Display Maestro gives you full control over connected displays, allowing you to use all available resolutions and bit depth. This is done by ignoring the operating system setting to hide potentially unsafe permissions.
It is ideal for running legacy games that require 256 color mode and do not automatically switch the screen depth for you. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard removed the ability to set 256 color modes manually using the built-in settings panel, but now this feature is available here in Display Maestro!
Display Maestro is a small application that can be configured to run at login time and sits quietly in the menu bar. Upon exit, it will also automatically return your display to the resolution selected before its launch.
